A donation that changes a life
The Marcello Gori Foundation offers scholarships every year to people who are in difficulty and need help. These people, mostly girls and boys, not only learn one of the oldest and most traditional artisanal crafts but also a lifestyle that contributes to their growth in every respect. We ask those who are reading to help the Foundation with donations that will allow us to provide an even greater number of scholarships. Together, we can do even more!

Barbara Gori, CEO of Scuola del Cuoio and founder of the Marcello Gori Foundation, is happy to offer guided tours of the workshops and the school every day at 12:00 in order to raise funds for the Foundation. The cost of the visit is €10.00 per person. All proceeds will be donated to the Marcello Gori Foundation to support the studies of young people in need. Everyone can participate in the visit by showing up at the indicated time at the Scuola del Cuoio workshops in Via San Giuseppe 5R in Florence. Reservation is kindly requested by phone or email:

"My name is Eleonora, I am one of the 6 lucky people who had the opportunity to take the course at the Scuola del Cuoio thanks to the Marcello Gori Foundation. I am 35 years old and after an unfinished university path, and after years of doing all the humble jobs I could find (cleaning, waitress, handing out flyers, caregiver, gardening, housekeeper, babysitter), jobs that did not satisfy me, I felt devalued, wandering aimlessly in search of a better working future, trying to save money to take a course that would allow me to change my situation. "From a curiosity born while working in a leather goods shop outside Italy, which then turned into a passion as I began making small items, I now find myself living a dream, made possible thanks to people with big hearts, eager to share their knowledge so that this art may always find a possible source of realization. When I first came across Scuola del Cuoio, I lacked the means to attend such an important training course. Luck had it that I happened to read an article about the Marcello Gori Foundation and the scholarships that would be given to young people in need. Luck had it that I won one of those scholarships. For me, this is a great gift that I will treasure and pass on with the same selflessness with which it was given to me. I sincerely thank Barbara Gori for believing in me from the very beginning, the entire Scuola del Cuoio family, and the board of the Marcello Gori Foundation for deciding to give me this opportunity. Finally, I thank our Maestro Saito Shigeru, who with great kindness and generosity teaches us his knowledge with so much passion.
